Application:

1. Similar compounds (other cephalosporins) and diuretics such as furosemide have been reported to enhance

renal damage when they are used together, and the change of renal function should be checked when they are

used. For example, probenecid can affect the transport of cefpirome in renal tubules, thus delaying its

excretion and increasing its plasma concentration.

2. In the determination of creatinine by picrate method, cefpirome sulfate showed a strong creatinine like reaction.

Therefore, it is suggested to use enzyme method to avoid false increase of creatinine level. If there is no enzymatic

determination, blood samples should be taken immediately before the next administration of cefpirome, because if

the recommended dose and administration interval are used, the serum level of cefpirome at this time is lower

than its interference limit.
